‘Tai Chi with Nelson Ng’

Description Join us for a weekly Tai Chi session with Nelson Ng! In this weekly class, participants will learn the basic principles and the philosophy behind Tai Chi, gaining flexibility and a better sense of balance, through slow and gentle movement. Nelson started learning Chen’s Tai Chi in 1989 from Master Gene Chen, who was a disciple of Grandmaster of Feng ZhiQiang. Nelson has been teaching since 2014. This class is free and open to beginners as well as those who have previous Tai Chi experience. People of all ages are welcome. You must sign in upon arrival.

‘The Friends of the Sunnyvale Public Library is hosting a two-day book sale. Join us in the Library Program Room, where you will find books for children and adults, movies on DVD and Blu-Ray, and music CDs. There will be items in English as well as other languages. Saturday: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (members only at 9 a.m.) Sunday: noon to 3 p.m. ($5 bag sale) Sunday is a $5 Bag Sale, where you buy a bag for $5 and fill it with what fits. While the Library opens at 1 p.m., the Bag Sale begins at noon. Only the Book Sale will be accessible from noon until the Library opens at 1 p.m. All sales help sponsor library programs and promote literacy. We accept multiple forms of payment, including cash, checks, credit and debit. Become a member at the sales. Membership is $10 for individuals per year. Become a Life Member for $200. ‘Repair Cafe Coming to Saratoga Library!’

You asked and it’s happening - Repair Cafe is coming to Saratoga Library! Volunteers will not only help repair your broken items, but they will also teach you how to fix things yourselves. For this session, the following repairs and maintenance will be offered: Small Electrical Appliances: Troubleshoot and fix basic household appliance problems such as frayed wires, corroded battery contacts, jammed printersSmall Non-electrical Items: Troubleshoot and fix basic non-electrical items such as mechanical tools, jewelry clasps, loose screws, broken knobsBike Repair Diagnosis & Education: Bike fitting, adjustment and repair including troubleshooting and fixing flat tires, kick stands, brakes, shifters, tightening seats and baskets as supplies and tools allowClothes Mending: Simple tasks such as sewing on loose buttons, ripped seams, and patching holes Repair Cafe volunteers from Saratoga, Mountain View and Palo Alto will be helping. Volunteers will do their best to fix items and provide advice. Registration for repairs is required and will open on June 1, 2025. You may bring one item for repair. ‘Gear Up! Designing for the Earth’

Description Join us for a hands-on exploration of robotics and the design thinking process! In this five-week program, we will be learning how to interview, brainstorm, and make as we build solutions to real problems in climate change and sustainability. Participants will practice hands-on engineering and learn what it’s like to compete in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC). Walk away with your very own prototype and a newfound excitement for engineering! Program hosted by members of Gatorbotics, Castilleja High School ‘s competitive FRC robotics team, and featuring special guests from local FRC teams each week. Recommended for ages 7-11. ‘The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes Reading Program’

‘Bowen Zheng is a Shanghai-born classical guitarist who brings a unique blend of artistry, intellect, and empathy to his music. Bowen has performed in masterclasses for many of today’s leading guitarists, including David Russell, Manuel Barrueco, Sergio Assad, Judicaël Perroy, and Marcin Dylla. His performances are distinguished by their emotional depth and narrative cohesion, offering audiences a profound and memorable musical experience. Bowen has performed across the U.S., with recent appearances at venues such as An Die Musik (Baltimore), The Rosette (Austin) through Austin Classical Guitar, and the Aguado Guitar Concerts series. He was selected as a winner of the 2023 Ex-Aequo Emerging Artists Initiative, leading to the premiere of a new work by Sergio Assad and a featured concert at The Rosette.
