Baby & Me Storytime is designed to promote early literacy for babies birth-2 years old. The first 20 minutes includes songs, a simple story, fingerplays and nursery rhymes followed by 20 minutes of play. We recommend bringing a blanket for your little one. Your attendance to this program grants permission to the City of Santa Clara to take your photograph and/or your child’s photograph for marketing purposes.

Wander & Wonder: Nature Journaling

Description Poet Mary Oliver ‘s advice for life is to \pay attention, be astonished, and tell about it\ — something you can do on the road or even close to home! Nature journaling is one such activity that encourages you to pay close attention to your surroundings, get curious, and put it all down on paper so you can easily share or reflect on your own memories and experiences. During this workshop, attendees will be led through a series of exercises to warm up their eyes and hands. Then we will venture into the outdoor patio area, sketching as we go. Pencils and small sketchbooks, as well as a resource list, will be provided to use and take home. No artistic experience is necessary! This workshop is about the process, and people of all levels are encouraged to attend. Due to the outdoor location of this event, tweens should be accompanied by their adult.
Mike the Magician Summer Reading Magic Show! (Ages 0-12)

Celebrate the magic of reading with this fun, funny, highly participatory magic show for all ages! Get ready to laugh and get excited about reading! Mike is a former Boston stand-up comic, 20-year comedy improv vet and third-grade school teacher. He returned to magic, his childhood hobby, when he moved to the Bay Area in 2004. Since then he has performed to laughter and acclaim across California, and won some awards to boot. He loves magic’s combination of fun and surprise and shares in the wide-eyed wonder of his young audiences. Frame the Fun: Comic Art Workshop

Reading Together With a Librarian

The children will be able to practice and improve their reading and speaking skills in a safe and welcoming environment while making new friends.
